Helping the Community
I am a strong proponent of taking on an active role in my local community. Read on below to learn about some of organizations I volunteer with to give back to our community...
Dedicated to helping children in need, the Intero Foundation has raised more than $1.5 million since 2003 to support over 70 local charities. From every home I sell, I donate a portion of my commission to the Intero Foundation. Additionally, I participate in the planning and executing of events to help raise money for the Intero Foundation, such as our recent Free E-Waste Recycling Day in Los Altos. To learn more about the foundation, go to InteroFoundation.org.
Los Altos Relay for Life
Raising money and awareness in the fight against cancer, the Los Altos Relay for Life benefits the American Cancer Society and aims to celebrate, remember, and fight back. Like many others, I have been personally affected by cancer, seeing family members, close friends, and colleagues afflicted by this terrible disease. In the years past, I have served as the Team Captain for the Los Altos Intero Team, raising thousands of dollars for this great cause through individual fundraising and organizing an assortment of fundraiser events. Find out more about this great event and learn how you can participate in the next Relay by visiting the Relay for Life website here.
Lupus Foundation of Northern California
When my daughter was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease known as lupus over 10 years ago, I sought to learn more about this disease myself and to help bring about awareness to others. As such, I began volunteering with the Lupus Foundation of Northern California, participating in their fundraising events with the goals of raising money to promote research related to lupus and creating more resources to educate and support the community, lupus patients, and their families. You can learn more about lupus and this organization by visiting LFNC.org.
Through the Silicon Valley Association of Realtors (of which I am a member), I volunteer during the annual Realtor Service Volunteer Program Week. I, along with many other local Realtors, help seniors in the Los Altos and Mountain View areas with a variety of household chores that they can no longer perform themselves. There was a great article in the Los Altos Town Crier about our 2010 event that you can access by clicking here.
